Solution-Focused Therapy in Helsinki

What is Solution-Focused Therapy?

Solution-Focused Therapy is a forward-looking, resource-oriented, and practical approach to therapy. It’s built on the belief that each person already has inner strengths that can help create meaningful change. The focus is on what works — and how to build more of it.

While we can explore difficult or even traumatic experiences when needed, we don’t stay stuck in them. Instead, we move fairly quickly toward clarity, insight, and concrete steps in the direction you hope to go.

Sessions may feel light, deep, or somewhere in between — always in a safe, warm, and respectful space.

What are the goals of therapy?

  • To clarify personal hopes, values, and direction

  • To identify and strengthen your own resources

  • To take small, practical steps toward meaningful change

  • To better understand your current challenges

  • To open up new perspectives and insights

  • To improve everyday well-being and overall quality of life

As a therapist, I support and guide you — listening deeply, asking questions, and gently encouraging growth.

What kinds of topics can we explore?

Solution-focused therapy is helpful in many situations, including:

  • Trauma and its effects

  • Depression and low energy

  • Burnout and stress

  • Life direction and decision-making

  • Clarifying goals, dreams, and values

  • Strengthening identity and self-worth

  • Addictions and recovery

  • Loneliness or social withdrawal

  • Bullying in school or the workplace

  • Navigating life changes or crises

Who is Solution-Focused Brief Therapy for?

Our therapy is aimed at individuals, and I work with both young people (starting from age 12) and adults. In sessions, I may use visual tools such as a flip chart, images, or diagrams to clarify the process and help organize thoughts in a new way.

At best, sessions with my clients feel like inspiring conversations where their vision of themselves and the life they want begins to take shape. I understand that each of us has a unique story. My job is to hear that story – to find both the strengths and the struggles, and to walk alongside my client using solution-focused methods.
